Abstract

The processing of geophysical data is carried out by sequentially applying many mathematical algorithms, and has the goal of producing the best possible image of geological structures in the subsurface. One of most important steps of the processing is the Velocity Analysis. It is responsible for producing a velocity model for wave propagation, which is used as input for the next steps of the processing. Several methods are available, with varying level human interference and under many distinct assumptions. In this project, we shall compare standard techniques for Velocity Analysis, by applying them to synthetic data.
