Abstract

The main objective of this work is to continue the study about the Cross Wedge Rolling (CWR) process in the Metal Forming Laboratory of the School of Mechanical Engineering of Unicamp. The specific objective is to research the manufacturing of hollow shafts by the CWR process. The construction of light equipments has increased in industry leading to the use of hollow shafts. Also, the CWR is shown as a strong alternative for its production. It is planned to analyze the behavior of hollow shafts with different dimensions rolled with the CWR equipment and then verify their mechanical properties, in order to compare to solid shafts, proving that these properties are equivalent, and that the CWR process is reliable.
