Abstract Maintaining cognitive abilities is associated with longevity and quality of life. The objective of this study is to describe the benefits of memory training sessions to older adults with low educational status, and to suggest appropriate methodology for this purpose. 40 healthy older adults, divided into groups of 20, ages between 60-75, with 0-2 years of formal education, who accept to participate. Each group will receive 10 sessions of training, 90 minutes each. One group will receive training in mental imagery and the other will receive training in verbal associations. One group will serve as control for the other. Participants will complete cognitive screening tests (validated for Brazilian elders) before and after the intervention. | |
