Abstract

Mastitis is an inflammatory response of the mammary gland, being the most frequent infection of the dairy cattle. Mastitis control should not be limited only to difficult situations. The use of antibiotics is the most common treatment in Brazil. However, due to the high cost of the remedies and the presence of residues in the milk, the treatment can be, at some times, impracticable. The indiscriminate and inadequate use of antibiotics has accented the microbiological resistance. Homeopathic is a possible treatment that fits in the mastitis situations. The therapeutical properties of the homeopathies medicines, starts to gain more space in the veterinary medicine each time. The objective of the present work will be evaluate the efficiency of the homeopathic medicine, through the somatic cell count, California Mastitis Test -CMT and the counting of the colony formation units –CFU.
