Abstract

This work intends to study how the Italian artist Alberto Magnelli contributed to form the historician collection of modern art of MAC/USP by his dialogue with Francisco Matarazzo Sobrinho and León Degan.For this porpose it s necessary to look for the documents of that period - specially the mails changes between them - locating the works of art acquires by the museum according to the artist s advice and the criterias that guided such choice.With this the objective is an analysis that brings a new information for the institutional history of museum and the Brazilian art in the mid-20st century, as well as the gathering and organization of materials able to cooperate with the exhibition "Alberto Magnelli" planned to 2009 in the MAC USP.
