Abstract

This project attempts to establish conceptual analogies between the surrealism and hypermedia design, by precisely studying the use of visual metaphors as a mediating resource in the communication process between the receptor (observer or user) and communicator (artist or designer). Once verified the degree of evolvement and the potentialities of such analogies, the research aims to determine how aspects from the surrealistic language can serve the designer during the creation and development of hypermedia ambient interfaces, using the visual metaphors as pointing elements for navigation and interactivity.
