Abstract

The objective of this research is to investigate IAA biosynthesis in the phytopathogenic bacterium X. campestris pv. citri, and to identifie LAA biosynthetic genes of xanthomonadas and identify its role in pathogenicity. The IAA-reduced and IAA- increased mutants of Xanthomonas that will be produced will be extremely valuable to test the role of LAA on pathogenicity. The first goal of this work is to identifie indole-3-acetic acid biosynthetic genes in Xanthomonas campestris pv. citri group A. Once this will be achived, it will be possible to investigate: 1. The activation (regulation) of the pathway(s) for indole-3-acetic acid biosynthesis under different biotic conditions (with or without supplementation of L-tryptophan; in the presence or absence af plant sap and exudates). The expression pattern of these genes during infection and weather are plant induced or not. 2. The contribution of the bacterial phytohormone production on the pathogenic interaction Xanthomonas campestris pv. citri/citrus. (AU)
