Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of cross-linkers (glutaraldehyde and proanthocyanidin) in the values of nanohardness and elastic modulus in different sites of hybrid layer after the application of adhesive system to dentin. Eighteen human molars will be used in this study. The oclusal surface will be planned until exposure of dentin. The teeth will be divided in three experimental groups (n=6) according to the cross-linkers used: group 1 (without cross-linker and Single Bond adhesive system), group 2 (glutaraldehyde and Single Bond) and group 3 (proanthocyanidin and Single Bond). On the prepared surface, the resin-based composite Z250 will be applied. After 24 hours, the specimens of each experimental group will be sliced and imbibed in acrylic resin. The values of nanohardness and elastic modulus will be evaluated in the Custom Triboindenter in the following regions: dentin (under the hybrid layer), hybrid layer, top of adhesive layer and resin-based composite area. The specimens will be stored in Hanks solution or collagenase during 3 and 6 months and the values of nanohardness and elastic modulus will be calculated. (AU)
