J. F. Justo is Bachelor (1988) and M. S. in Physics by the Institute of Physics of the University of São Paulo and Ph. D. in Nuclear Engineering (1997) by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is faculty in the department of Electronic Systems in the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo since 2001, in the positions of Assistant Professor (2001 to 2006), Associate Professor (2007 to 2017), and Full Professor (since 2017). He was Associate Researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1997 to 1998) and Visiting Associate Professor in the University of Minnesota (2007 to 2008). He is the vice chair of the Center of History of Science of the University of São Paulo (since 2016) and associate researcher at the Institute of Advances Studies (IEA-USP). He was elected in 1996 as a full member of the Alpha Nu Sigma Honor Society of the American Nuclear Society and in 1998 as a full member of the Sigma Xi Honor Society - The Scientific Research Society. He is currently associate editor of the Polytechnica journal (Springer Nature). He has experience in the area of materials science and electronic materials, with focus on nanomaterials.
