Mauricio Pazini Brandao got a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Technological Institute of Aeronautics - ITA (1978), a Master's degree in Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering from ITA (1983), a PhD in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Stanford University - USA (1988), and an MBA in Strategic Institutional Management from Fluminense Federal University - UFF (2005). He has been a Professor at ITA since 1979, having taken office as Full Professor in 2011. At ITA, in addition to working in the three teaching segments (Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Extension), he held various administrative positions at levels of Head of Department, Division, Management, Congregation, and Pro-Rectory. He served as Lecturer at the Aeronautics Command and General Staff School (ECEMAR) and the Army Command and General Staff School (ECEME). He was Head of the Aeronautical Systems Division of the Institute of Aeronautics and Space (IAE) from 1996 to 2000. He was Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies (IEAv) of the Aerospace Technical Center (CTA) in São José dos Campos from 2000 to 2005. He was a Member of the Advisory Board of the Technological Research Institute (IPT) in São Paulo from 2003 to 2007. He served as Senior Member and International Editor for Brazil of the Journal of Aircraft of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). He was a Fellow of the American Helicopter Society (AHS). He is a Private Pilot, with experience in flight tests on airplanes and helicopters. He is an Engineer Officer of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), having reached the rank of Brigadier-General, being retired since 2011. As a General Officer, he held the positions of Deputy Director of Logistic Systems at the Directorate of Aeronautical Engineering (DIRENG) in Rio de Janeiro and Head of the Administration Sub-Department of the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology (DCTA), in São José dos Campos. He was an Advisor to the Regional Engineering and Agronomy Council of the State of São Paulo (CREA-SP) from 2014 to 2019, having served as President of the Education and Professional Attributions Commission (CEAP). He acquired experience in various segments of the Brazilian Space and Nuclear Programs. In 2019, he was appointed Secretary of Applied Technologies of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations, and Communications (MCTIC). He was the South-Southeast Regional Director of MCTIC, based in São Paulo, until September 2020. He was Director of Defense and Security (DDS) and Director of Science, Technology, and Innovations (DCTI) of the Special Secretariat for Strategic Affairs of the Presidency of the Republic (SAE-PR), in Brasília, from October 2020 to January 2023. He has experience as a consultant in the areas of Materials, Energy, Transformation, and Defense Industry. He is Director of the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (FIESP) and Advisor to the National Union of Defense Materials Industries (SIMDE). He is a member of the Board of the Institute of Humanist Capitalism (ICapH). His achievements focus on Aerospace Engineering, working mainly in aeroelasticity, aeroacoustics, aerodynamics, structural dynamics, aircraft design, strategic management in Science, Technology, Innovations, Industry, Education, and National Defense.
