degree in Veterinary Medicine from the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (1975 ) and Ph.D. in Biological Sciences ( Zoology ) from State University of Sao Paulo Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1996). It is Scientific Researcher VI in Fisheries Institute, where is responsible for the direction of the Marine Fishery Center APTA and the direction of the Fishing Museum. He has experience in museology (natural history museum) and research into marine fishery resources, devoting himself mainly to studies of shrimp fishing, by-catch of trawling (especially fish) and marine biodiversity. Integrates team research project and redemption of fishing gear lost, abandoned or discarded at sea. It is the Coordinator of Institutional Program for Scientific Initiation Scholarships (PIBIC/CNPq - IP). Integrates the Management Council of the APA Coastal Marine Center (São Paulo) and coordinates the Thematic Chamber for Fisheries, collegiate created under the said Council, to act in fisheries planning and management .
