Alcino Eduardo Bonella is Full Professor of Philosophy at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU). He holds a Master's degree (1995) and a PhD (2000) in philosophy from UNICAMP, did his post-doctoral internships at UFMG (2005) and at Faculty of Philosophy, Oxford University (2005 and 2011). He is dedicated to teaching and research on rationality, normativity, value of life, and problems of practical ethics (research with humans and animals, abortion, euthanasia, public health, poverty, animal status, and others). He is a professor in the Undergraduate and Graduate Programs in Philosophy at UFU, and in the Graduate Program in Health Sciences at UFU's School of Medicine. He is the coordinator of the Ethics Study Group (UFU/CNPq) and the Group for Research, Teaching, and Extension in Animal Ethics (UFU/CNPq). He is a member of the IAB (International Association of Bioethics), the Ethics Work Group of ANPOF (National Association of Post-Graduate Studies in Philosophy), the Núcleo de Pesquisa em Ética Prática (NuEP) of UFSC, and the Associação Brasileira de Filosofia da Religião (ABFR). He is the author of the book "Living and Dying Well, Essays on Bioethics", and dozens of articles and chapters in journals and anthologies. He directs a weekly program ("quem sabe faz a hora") on UFU's University Radio (FM 107.5) about daily ethics and altruism, within the program Trocando em Miúdos.
