Graduated in Chemical Engineering at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (1976) and has a Ph.D. in Business from Fundação Getulio Vargas - SP (2005).He is a full professor of Operations Management at Fundação Getúlio Vargas in SP (FGV-EAESP), where he is a member of the research group of Operations Management and Sustainability. Since February, 2015, he is the Dean of the business school. He served as chair of the Operations Management division of ANPAD (Brazilian Academy of Management) from 2011 to 2014 and as vice-president of POMS for Americas from 2011 to 2013. In the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) he is a member of the Innovation Commitee for a second term (2017-2018). Served as editor in chief of JOSCM (Journal of Operations and Supply Chain Management) in 2014 and 2015. Before his involvement in academia had senior management positions at Bunge Corp and Dixie Toga (currently Bemis Corp.) with experience in oilseeds and packaging. His current research interests include value creation and capture in buyer supplier relationships and the role of management capabilities in the competitiveness of Brazilian companies.
