PhD in Economics at State University of Campinas - UNICAMP - (2005), post-doctoral degree at USP (2012) and a postgraduate degree in Politics and International Relations from Lancaster University in England (1984).Two Post-Doctorates, the first Post-Doctorate in Social Sciences at the Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana/Xochimilco, Mexico (2022/2023) and the second Post-Doctorate in Social Sciences at the Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana/Xochimilco, Mexico (2024/2025).. He is associate professor III of political health economics at the Faculty of Public Health at USP and his postgraduate program in Public Health, a doctor professor at the Department of Economics and the Postgraduate Program in Political Economics at the Pontifical Catholic University (PUC-SP). Visitor Professor at Universidade Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM/Azcapotzalco)/México (2022/2023), with Capes grant, process: 88887.694923/2022-00; Visitor professor at Queen Mary, University of London, 2017 and 2019. he is a CNPq Productivity Level 2 researcher. University of São Paulo.He maintains international scientific exchange, with a focus on Latin America, at the following universities/institutes: UAM-Azcaptzalco and Xochimilco (Mexico), BUAP (Mexico); National University of Quilmes (Argentina), Instituto de Filosofía de la Habana (Cuba) and Thessaloniki University (Greece).He published 190 articles in specialized journals. It has 46 book chapters and 15 published books, with emphasis on "Debates sobre o Estado e capital: contribuições contemporâneas e críticas sobre a derivação do Estado". He participated in 260 events, abroad and in Brazil. He supervised 30 master's dissertations and 11 doctoral theses, and supervised 2 post-doctorates. He is a consultant for 17 scientific journals and a member of the editorial boards of the Brazilian Journal of Health Economics, Collective Health Magazine of the State University of Feira de Santana, Review of Revolutionary Criticism and Review of Domingueira da Saúde. He received 31 awards and / or honors. Between 2007 and the moment, he participated in the conduct of 21 research projects. Former president of the Brazilian Association of Health Economics (Abres) (2007-2010) and vice president (2003-2007). He has experience in consulting and research in the area of Social Economy, with an emphasis on the following topics: political health economics, health and SUS financing, budgetary and financial management of public policies, with emphasis on the health area, social security economics and social assistance, public finances, economics and development and political economy in Latin America. He is an ad hoc consultant at Fapesp. Member of the Policy, Planning and Management committee of the Brazilian Association of Collective Health (Abrasco) and responsible for coordinating the Health and Healthcare Working Group, which is part of the IIPE -International Initiative for Promoting Political Economy Annual Conferences.
