Maria Isabel Pedreira de Freitas

I hold the bachelor's degree in Public Health Nursing from the University of São Paulo (1971), a Master's degree in Nursing from the University of São Paulo (1977), a Ph.D. in Nursing from the University of São Paulo (1992) and a Post Doc at Kapostidrian University of Athens in 2005 next to Profa. Dr. Heleni Teodosopoulous. I He defended the degree of Free Teaching in 2008 by the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the State University of Campinas. Three years after I joined Unicamp as a contractor, I participated in a hiring process to become effective teacher, and later on went through the process for Livre Docente, becoming an Associate Professor of the Nursing School. I was a member of the Commission of Specialists in Nursing Education from 2000-2002 and 2002-2004 by the Ministry of Education. I am the leader of the Research Group and Research in Health Care Processing - GPEPAS, by CNPq. I was Director of the Nursing School of Unicamp, in the 2014-2018 quadrennium. I am an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Nursing at Unicamp. I was head of the Nursing Department of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the State University of Campinas (2008/2010 and 2010/2012), until the Nursing Department was recognized as Faculty of Nursing on August 7, 2012 by the University Council of Unicamp . During the ten years of administrative activities (2008 to 20018) I continued to develop teaching, research and extension activities. I acquired experience in the different organs of the central administration of Unicamp, and could organize the actions, together with the professors and employees of the Nursing Department, and in particular two professors Profas. Dras. Fernanda Aparecida Cintra and Roberta Matheus Rodrigues, for the elaboration of the Faculty Project that made possible the homologation of the Faculty of Nursing, as an independent unit at Unicamp. I have experience in the area of Nursing, with emphasis in Medical-Surgical Nursing, working mainly on the following topics: processing of critical health articles (intra and extra hospital), sterilization agents, hospital infection control, enteral and parenteral nutrition and nursing. I was one of the founding members of the Brazilian Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition in 1975, and I have been active in it until now. I participate in related organizations such as the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, Latin American Federation of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition and the European Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition. I am a member of the Brazilian Society of Nurses of Surgical Center and Sterilized Material Center SOBECC. I have been developing extension projects in the area of beauty institutes, focusing on the processing of piercing materials used by manicures, pedicures and podiatrists. I developed courses for manicures, pedicures, podiatrists, beauty salon owners and teachers of hairdressing schools in 2015 and 2016. This extension project came about after research carried out in the municipalities of Campinas and Campo Limpo to identify how the instruments have been processed used in salons. In the area of hospital care, investigates actions to be performed in patients based on evidence on topics such as feeding tube, use of laryngoscopes, cleaning trocarters used in minimally invasive surgery.
