Graduating from the Universidade Cruzeiro do Sul (Unicsul) in 2014, Dr de Oliveira Alves joined the Postgraduate Interdisciplinary Program in Health Sciences at the same University, in Sao Paulo, with a competitive scholarship from the Brazilian Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) and obtained her PhD in August 2018. As part of her training, she spent 11 months at the School of Biomedical Sciences, Curtin University, Australia, where she participated in a research project investigating the effect of omega-3 fatty acids on lymphocyte differentiation and metabolism, sponsored by CAPES. She has laboratory skills in the areas of Physiology, Immunology and Biochemistry. Her research was focused on leukocyte function, specifically in T lymphocytes biology, including: fatty acids, physical and nutritional status, inflammatory and metabolic parameters, cytokine production, assessment of regulatory T cells and mRNA expression. During her undergraduate training she was a Sao Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) Junior Scientific Initiation Ambassadorial Scholar for 2 years (09/2011-09/2013).
