He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (2000), validated by the Federal University of Minas Gerais (2013), a master's degree in Electrical Engineering (2009), and a doctorate in Electrical Engineering (2013) from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo. He has professional experience as an engineer and researcher in telecommunications (companies: Nokia, Telefônica, and INICTEL) and computer science (companies: Celltick Technology and Microsoft). His expertise lies in Electrical Engineering, with an emphasis on Telecommunications, Quality of Service, and Quality of Experience in Multimedia Services, Signal Processing, Machine Learning, and Network Security.He is the coordinator of the CNPq research group Intelligent Embedded Systems - SINE and the coordinator of the Multimedia Signal Processing Laboratory in the Computer Science Department at UFLA. He teaches undergraduate courses in Electronics and graduate courses in Telecommunications and Quality of Experience in Multimedia Systems in the Computer Science and Systems Engineering and Automation programs. He supervises undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral students. He has coordinated research projects funded by organizations such as CNPq, FINEP, FAPEMIG, FAPESP, and CAPES.He is a member of the evaluation committee for Fondos para la Innovación, Ciencia y Tecnología and a reviewer of projects for CNPq and FINEP. He serves on the editorial board of the journal INFOCOMP and has previously contributed to the IEEE Latin America Transactions. Additionally, he is a reviewer for prominent national and international journals (125 reviews recognized by WoS). Currently, he is a member of the Brazilian Delegation to the ITU-T alongside ANATEL, a member of SBrT, and a Senior Member of the IEEE.He is recognized as one of the top 2 of the world's most influential researchers in information and communication technologies (Stanford/SCOPUS, 2023).
