Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP). Faculdade de Engenharia Química (FEQ)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Bachelor's and Degree in Physics from Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie (1978); Master's degree in Physical Chemistry from the State University of Campinas (1987); PhD in Polymer Engineering - University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (1993); Post-doctorate in the Department . in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the Polytechnic School of USP (1994-1998); Associate Professor at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering at the State University of Campinas (2018). He was a Senior Researcher at CPqD at Pirelli Cabos from 02/1978 to 12/1988 and Technical Advisor from 06/1993 to 06/1994 (upon returning from PhD). He was Titular Professor at the Mauá Institute of Technology, 1999-2003 and Professor. Adjunct at the Faculty of Industrial Engineering / FEI, 1999-2001, in subjects related to Polymeric Materials. He worked as a researcher in polymeric materials in the Bioengineering Division of the Instituto do Coração/InCor - Faculty of Medical Sciences of USP, 1999-2000. He was an Associate Professor (RDIDP) in the Department. of Materials and Bioprocess Engineering at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering at the State University of Campinas from 05/2001 until his retirement on 05/2019, becoming a Collaborating Professor and also collaborating with the groups: Carbon Nanotechnology Research Group at the University of Trieste (Italy), Photonic Materials and Devices Laboratory of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Unicamp and the New Materials and Devices Group of the Department. of Electronic Systems Engineering at the USP Polytechnic School. He has experience in the area of #8203;#8203;Materials Engineering, with an emphasis on Polymer Science and Technology, working mainly on the following topics: Studies on the relationship between structure and physical properties of polymers and polymeric nanocomposites (nanoclays, nanosilica, carbon nanodots, carbon nanotubes, graphene); polymer characterization techniques (FTIR, DSC, TGA, DMTA, PAS, UV-Vis, XRD, FRX, SEM, MET, mechanical, electrical, optical, thermal, rheological characterizations,...); rheology and polymer processing (single-screw and twin-screw extrusion, injection molding and compression); synthesis of polymeric nanocomposites via in situ polymerization assisted by an ultrasound probe; low temperature plasma processing, surface modification; polymer recycling, recovery of recycled thermoplastics; flame retardant materials; polymeric materials for low-cost solar collectors and for luminescent solar concentrators or converters for photovoltaic cells; Process optimization studies and formulations of polymeric compounds (Factorial Design technique) based on their physical properties for various products and applications, such as: wave guides and polymeric optical devices, polymeric optical fibers; semiconductor and dielectric polymers; low, medium and high voltage electrical cables; backfill and materials for underground power cables and in studies on the wear of extruder screws processing thermoplastics.
