Bacharel in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar, from 1995 - 1998), master's degree in Agronomy from the Escola Superior de Agricultura "Luiz de Queiroz" (ESALQ-USP, from 200 - 2002) and PhD in Agronomy also from ESALQ -USP (2003-2006), with sandwich doctorate internship (2005 - 2006) and a post-doctorate (2009 - 2010) at King's College London. Currently holds a position as Associate Professor in the Department of Morphology, at the Institute of Biological Sciences, Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). Completed a sabbatical year at Harvard Medical School (2014-2015). She was deputy head of the Department of Morphology (2015 - 2017), Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Cell Biology (CAPES 6, 2018 - 2020 and 2025 - 2027) and coordinator of the Graduate Advisory Center at ICB/UFMG (2022 - 2024). Develops research in the area of skeletal muscle development in two major projects: (i) study of the role played by the Repulsive Guidance Molecule a (RGMa) during the development, growth and regeneration of muscle tissue; and (ii) the development of satellite cell lines for the production of cultivated meat. Member of the Brazilian Society of Cell Biology, the Brazilian Society of Muscle Biology and the Brazilian Association of Cellular Agriculture (Cell Agr Brasil). Presents experience in the areas of Developmental Biology, Cellular and Molecular Biology, and Tissue Engineering, with emphasis on the development of skeletal muscle tissue.
