Bachelor's at História from Universidade Federal do Pará (1999), Master's at History from Universidade Estadual de Campinas, UNICAMP (2002) and PhD in History from the University of Salamanca, Spain (2012). As part of his PhD, he received a CAPES scholarship and was awarded the title of "Doctor Europeos" by the European Union. He is an Associate Professor at the Federal University of Maranhão. He is a Permanent Professor of the Postgraduate Program in "History and Atlantic Connections: Cultures and Powers" (PPGHIS-UFMA). He was the Coordinator of PPGHIS-UFMA between 2016 and 2021. His intellectual production focuses on the following themes: History of the Atlantic, between the 16th and 18th centuries; History of the Amazon; Indigenous History; Military History; History of the Iberian Union. He was part of the international project "Political, commercial and military networks in Brazil during the Hispanic Monarchy and its aftermath, 1580-1680" (HAR2012-35978), funded by MINECO (Spain). He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the International Meeting on Colonial History (EIHC). As a researcher, he is a member of the Research Group: "Corruption and Power in the Iberian World (16th to 18th centuries)" - CNPq/UFMG), coordinated by Professor Adriana Romeiro. He is one of the leaders of the CNPq research group, GMAD (Studies of the Atlantic World and its Diasporas). He was also an associate researcher at CHAM, currently the Center for Humanities at Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Portugal). He supervises master's and doctoral students on various aspects of the political and economic history of the Atlantic territories between the 16th and 17th centuries.
