Alberto José Vieira Pacheco is teacher of the Course of Musical Sciences at FCSH, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, in which he coordinates the doctorate in Musical Arts. He was a teacher at the School of Music of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) between 2015 and 2022. He holds the degrees of Ph.D. and M.A. in Music from UNICAMP (Universidade Estadual de Campinas), Brazil. He is author of four books - "O Canto Antigo Italiano", São Paulo, Annablume (2006), "Castrati e outros virtuoses: a prática vocal carioca sob influência da corte de D. João VI", São Paulo, Annablume, (2009), "Guia Musical dos Periódicos da Fundação Biblioteca Nacional (1842-1922)", Rio de Janeiro, Biblioteca Nacional (2021), "O Cancioneiro dos periódicos da Fundação Biblioteca Nacional (1842-1922)", 2 vols, Rio de Janeiro, Biblioteca Nacional (2022), and "O Álbum de Armi", Pimenta Cultural (2022) - many scientific papers and many musical editions. Between 2007 and 2013, Pacheco carried out a post-doctoral research at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, CESEM, with FCT funding (Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia de Portugal), on the theme "The repertoire of occasional dramatical musical works in Portugal and Brazil between 1707 and 1834". At the same research center, he is one of the founding members of Caravelas, Research Group for the Study of the History of Luso-Brazilian Music. Pacheco is coordinator / editor of the Dicionário Biográfico Caravelas [Caravelas Biographic Dictionary], in which he has published several entries. He has presented communications in many national and international scientific meetings, sometimes as a guest, or as part of its Scientific Councils. Pacheco also has extensive experience as a singer, collaborating as a soloist tenor in recording 4 CDs. He also has solid choir experience, both as singer and as conductor. Pacheco is a founding member and musical director of the Academia dos Renascidos, musical group that aims to perform the Luso-Brazilian vocal repertoire. He also took part in the organization of events, in particular the International Congress "A Língua Portuguesa em Música" [The Portuguese Language on Music], held in Lisbon (2012) and in Rio de Janeiro (2018), of which he was the general coordinator and main proponent. He published 14 articles in specialized magazines. He has 8 book chapters and 5 books. He participated in 18 events. He supervised 4 doctoral thesis and co-supervised 1.
