He received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Sao Paulo (1994), his Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Sao Paulo (1997) and his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of British Columbia (2002). Between 2003 and 2005 he was a Post-Doctoral fellow at the University of São Paulo. Since 2005 he has been with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DEEC) of the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) where he is currently Full Professor. Between 2019 and 2020 he was a Visiting Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of British Columbia (UBC) He has experience in power systems, focusing on electric energy transmission, acting mainly on the following subjects: power system transients and numerical methods applied to the simulation of power systems.
