Paulo received his Computer Engineer degree from Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (1997), Master's (2003) and Phd degree from Universidade de São Paulo (2009). He has researched in the City University of New York as research visitor from 2012 to 2013. Nowadays, He is Associate Professor at ITA.
