Luciano Kleber de Souza Luna

Graduated in Biological Sciences from the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (1999), a Master's degree in Genetics from the Federal University of Pernambuco (2001), and Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the Bernhard-Nocht-Institut für Tropenmedizin / Hamburg University, Germany (2008). Completed postdoctoral studies at the Center for Virology Research, School of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo, on projects for detecting and characterizing human coronaviruses and emerging picornaviruses and their association with respiratory pathology in humans, as well as detecting coronaviruses in wild animals (2012-2014). Completed postdoctoral studies at the Clinical Virology Laboratory of the Federal University of São Paulo, Paulista School of Medicine, where he studied respiratory viruses in patients with acute respiratory infections and the epidemiology of SARS-CoV-2 (2018-2021). Has experience in virology, using molecular methods for virus detection and discovery and viral titration assays. Worked at the Institute of Technology of Paraná on developing a human rabies vaccine produced in suspension VERO cells (2008-2011). Worked at the Institute of Molecular Biology of Paraná on projects to develop molecular detection kits for veterinary pathogens (2011); diagnosis of human pathogens by PCR and NGS, and molecular detection kits for arboviruses (2015-2017). Currently, he works at the Institute of Technology of Paraná on a project to develop analytical techniques to evaluate the quality of the animal rabies vaccine production process and to develop a rabies vaccine for dogs and cats in BHK-21 cell culture adapted to suspension and serum-free.
