Birthplace: Brazil

I graduated in Medicine (2000) and Applied and Computational Mathematics focused on Public Health (2017), both at the University of São Paulo. After my undergraduate degree, I completed a three-year medical residency in Internal Medicine at the Hospital das Clínicas of the University of São Paulo School of Medicine (2004) and received my PhD in Medical Sciences from the University of São Paulo (2009). I started my tenure track in 2011 and obtained my habilitation in 2016. Currently, I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, School of Medicine, University of São Paulo . My main research area is the epidemiology of chronic diseases, with a focus on cardiovascular health/disease and its associated factors. I am the coordinator of the Strategy of Registry of Acute Coronary Syndrome (ERICO study) and principal investigator of two other cohort studies: the Brazilian Longitudinal Study of Adult Health (ELSA-Brasil) and the Stroke Mortality and Morbidity Study (EMMA). I also focus on applied research on healthcare systems (primarily in the context of primary health care) and medical education. I am currently a PhD supervisor for the Graduate Program in Medical Sciences at the University of São Paulo. I teach undergraduate and graduate courses on primary health care, clinical medicine, and statistics applied to the health sciences. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
