André Freitas Colaço is Assistant Professor in the Department of Biosystems Engineering at USP/ESALQ. He holds a bachelor's degree in Agronomic Engineer (equivalent to Agronomy) from USP/ESALQ, with a master's and doctoral degree from the same institution. He has academic experience abroad at the University of Florida, USA, and the University of Lleida, Spain. He was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and later a Research Scientist at the Australian national research agency, CSIRO, in the Department of Agriculture and Food, focusing on digital agriculture and agricultural systems.He received the Outstanding Graduate Student Award from the International Society of Precision Agriculture, ISPA. Additionally, he has authored one of the main books on Precision Agriculture in Brazil. Currently, he serves as an Associate Editor of Precision Agriculture, one of the leading scientific journals in the field.His research focuses on precision and digital agriculture applied to various sectors, including grains and horticulture. Currently, he is focused on the development of artificial intelligence for agricultural applications, with an emphasis on digital and intelligent decision systems in agriculture.
