Giorgio Romano Schutte

He holds a degree in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Amsterdam (UvA) (1984), a master's degree in International Relations with a specialization in Economics from the University of Amsterdam (1987), a Propedeuse in Law from the University of Amsterdam (1991), and a PhD in Sociology from the University of São Paulo (2003). He conducted postdoctoral research at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU) and at the National Chengchi University (NCCU) in Taipei (2020). He is an Associate Professor IV at the Federal University of ABC.He works in the field of International Relations, with an emphasis on International Political Economy, focusing mainly on the following topics: Energy Geopolitics; the international rise of China; Brazil's Foreign Policy and international integration. He has professional experience as an advisor in the trade union movement in Europe and Brazil; served as Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Secretariat of International Relations of São Paulo; Special Advisor at the Secretariat-General of the Presidency of the Republic; Planning and Research Technician and Coordinator of the international policy study area at IPEA; and staff member of the World Bank as Regional Advisor of the Cities Alliance. He is a founding member of the Brazilian Network of China Studies (RBChina) and the Observatory of Brazil's Foreign Policy and International Integration (OPEB); member of the Group of International Analysis (Gacint) and the Policy discussion Group of the Perseu Abramo Foundation.
