Professor at the University of Sao Paulo (USP) since 2000, with a degree in Literature, History and Culture, focusing on Arab and African studies, travel narratives, representation, orientalism, migration and refuge, Islam and manuscripts. Master and Doctor in Linguistics and Literary Theory from USP, besides another PhD in Social History, with specialization and Post-Doctorate in Egypt, Syria and Kuwait. He is the Coordinator of the Brazil-Africa Research Support Center (NAP) at USP, coordinator of the Intercultural Dialogues Group at the Institute for Advanced Studies (IEA) at USP, Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Humanities, Rights and Other Legitimacies/USP and director of the Bibli-ASPA research center. He is the author of several works, such as Foreigner's Delight in All That Is Amazing and Wonderful: Study of a Baghdali Travel Account; Islam; Arabic Language Grammar for South American Students; as well as editor and author of works such as Dialogues and Resistances: Africa in Brazil and Brazil in Africa (editor and author of chapters); Alterscience: Critical Propositions and Creative Processes for Knowledge (editor and author) and Languages #8203;#8203;of survival: migrations, interlanguages, narratives and representations (editor and author). He has translated several books from Arabic and other languages #8203;#8203;into Portuguese, as well as works from Portuguese into Arabic (by Guimarães Rosa and Machado de Assis, among others). Coordinator of two research groups registered with CNPq and advisor for Scientific Initiation, Master's, Doctoral and Post-Doctoral studies (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
