MARCOS CÂMARA DE CASTRO is a writer, composer and Associate Professor MS-5, at the Department of Music at the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo. He is responsible for the disciplines of Music Education, Singing and Choir Conducting and Ethnomusicology. Graduated in composition from ECA/USP (1983), he studied as an Auditeur-Libre, the classes of Harmony, Counterpoint, Analysis and Musical Composition by Michel Philippot, at the National Superior Conservatory of Music in Paris, as a CNPq Improvement Scholar (1988- nineteen ninety). He has a master's degree (2001) and a doctorate (2007), both under the guidance of Mario Ficarelli, on the Minas Gerais composer Fructuoso Vianna (1896-1976), a work that includes the compilation of his collection, donated to ECA/USP by his daughter Guigui, and musicological review and editing of his complete work.In the area of #8203;#8203;choral singing, he has been a professor of several choral groups in the country and abroad, has been critically reviewing the bibliography and editing the Cancioneiro Coral Brasileiro and since 2015 has been a professor at the Coral da Filô, a university extension program.He is accredited in the Graduate Program in Music at ECA / USP, has 4 PhDs and 9 defended masters and 4 masters in progress. He carried out a postdoctoral research internship, in the academic year 2012-2013, with a BPE/FAPESP scholarship at the University of Lorraine, Nancy (France), under the supervision of Didier Francfort, in a work at the Popular University, whose main action was the Atelier de Chant in the chapel of the castle of Lunéville (Château des Lumières).His compositions have been presented in the country and abroad and, as a researcher, he has been publishing in national and international academic journals, organizing and participating in scientific events on his main line of research: Music, Society and Education. He is the leader of the research group Estramuse: transdisciplinary studies in music, society, education.Since 2015, he has been managing editor of Revista da Tulha - academic music journal of the Research Center in Performance Sciences of the Department of Music at FFCLRP / USP.From 2016 to 2022, he was a researcher associated with the thematic project FAPESP 2016 / 05318-7, O Musicar Local new tracks for ethnomusicology. Headquarters Institutions: Institute of Arts (Music) - Unicamp; Department of Anthropology - USP and Institute of Brazilian Studies - USP. This project aims to recognize the diversity of forms of musical engagement #8203;#8203;or of making music in different locations.He has articles published by Folha de São Paulo, Correio Popular de Campinas, Revista Concerto, Jornal da USP, among others, and is the author of the books: Fructuoso Vianna, orchestrator of the piano.
