Birthplace: Brazil

Claudio Kitano completed the undergraduate course in Electrical Engineering at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of Ilha Solteira (FE-IS / UNESP) in 1986, where he joined as teaching assistant professor in 1987. In mid-1993 he completed his master's degree in Electronic Engineering and Computing by the Technological Institute of Aeronautics - ITA, working with laser interferometry, electro-optical devices and acoustic-optical cells. He completed his PhD at ITA in mid-2001, in the field of electro-optical modulators in integrated optics. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at UNESP, teaching subjects such as Waves and Transmission Lines, Principles of Communication, Optoelectronics, Optical Sensors and others. He is accredited in the Graduate Program in Electrical Engineering at FE-IS / UNESP, Concentration Area ?Automation?, since 2001. His interest involves research in the following subjects: optical interferometry applied to the measurement of micro and nano vibrations in solids, characterization of piezoelectric flex-tension actuators, optical fiber sensors, electro-optical sensors at high electrical voltages, design of devices in integrated optics, photothermal sciences, sensors with surface acoustic waves and survey of flow profiles of viscous liquids using laser. He is a reviewer for the following journals: Applied Optics, Optics Express, Optics Letters, Optics and Laser Technology, IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, IEEE Sensors Journal, Measurement Science and Technology, Measurement, and Sensors MDPI. He won the "Unibanco 1993 Award for Best Thesis in the Electronic Engineering Division of ITA". Advisor of the thesis that received the ?CAPES Thesis Award 2017 in the area of Engineering IV".
