Currently, I work as a researcher at the University of Exeter (UK), where I'm involved in projects aimed at understanding the functioning of tropical wetlands. My research focuses on quantifying the magnitude and drivers of greenhouse-gas emissions in these ecosystems. This work is carried out in collaboration with institutions across South America, Africa, Southeast Asia, and Europe. This research will help clarify the role of these wetlands in climate-change mitigation, as they store large amounts of carbon and influence the global carbon cycle. I hold an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Plant Biology from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) and a B.Sc. in Forest Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM). During my training, I specialized in plant ecophysiology, analysing vegetations physiological responses to environmental variation in order to understand the effects of climate change on ecosystems functioning.
