Sumaya Mattar

Her academic and professional career has been built on the intersection between Art and Education, encompassing Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Pedagogy, Psychoanalysis, and Philosophy. She is a professor at USP's School of Communications and Arts, where she teaches, supervises research, and develops extension projects. She is a member of the Postgraduate Programs in Visual Arts (ECA/USP) and Humanities, Rights and Other Legitimacies (FFLCH/USP). In 2010, she established the GMEPAE Multidisciplinary Group of Studies and Research in Art and Education (CNPq), which functions as a forum for academic discussion, introspection, and collaborative creation.She has developed and continues to refine the "Cartographies of the Self: A methodological perspective for training educators" training system. She has also coordinated the Arts Subproject of the Pedagogical Residency Program (Capes/USP) and contributed to the establishment and coordination of the extension initiative focused on diversity and anti-racism, entitled Matizes: diversidades na roda da arte.educação. Her professional experience in Basic Education, encompassing roles as a teacher and pedagogical coordinator, continues to resonate in her contributions to teacher training, both within the university setting and in the extension courses she facilitates, including "Experiences with Art for Young People and Adolescents" (from 2010 to 2019) and "Art and Education with Teachers" (since 2019). Her contributions extend beyond the realm of education, as evidenced by her involvement in academic administration at the University of São Paulo (USP). In this capacity, she has held prominent positions such as the chairmanship of the Arts Degree Committee and active participation in various undergraduate, research, and postgraduate committees.Her research and scholarly endeavors encompass a wide range of interdisciplinary fields, including art, education, memory, creative processes, and subjectivation, with a particular emphasis on the arts.
