Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Escola de Engenharia de São Carlos (EESC)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Postdoctoral fellow at Mannheim University of Applied Sciences, Germany, in the automation of online quantification of yeast concentration and viability in sugarcane substrates using in situ microscopy, image processing and artificial intelligence in the context of fermentation ethanolic. PhD in Mechanical Engineering (Robotics and Automation) from EESC-USP (2010). Master in Microelectronics (USP, 2002) and Graduate in Electrical Engineering (Emphasis Electronics and Telecommunications) from the School of Engineering of São Carlos - USP. He has experience in implementing optical systems based on the in situ microscopy technique to capture high-resolution microscopic images directly from suspensions of microorganisms and particles. He has experience in the development of image analysis algorithms and in the application of the in situ technique in various microbiological processes involving fermentative yeasts, contaminants and pseudohyphae, algae, bacteria, and Giardia cysts. The applications has been aimed at online quantification and morphological characterization of microorganisms and particles in order to determine correlations between aspects of the population of microorganisms/particles and process parameters under monitoring (temperature, pH, concentration of metabolites and nutrients, sources of stress, among others).
