Paula Carolina de Andrade Carvalho

Postdoctoral researcher in History at Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp). Holds a Ph.D. from the Graduate Program in History at the Fluminense Federal University (UFF), in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, her PhD was considered one of the best History dissertations presented in the university in the year 2023. Earned a master's degree in History from the School of Philosophy, Letters, and Human Sciences at the Federal University of São Paulo (EFLCH-UNIFESP). Holds a bachelor's degree in History from the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters, and Human Sciences at the University of São Paulo (FFLCH-USP). Her research interests include Asian History, Middle Eastern Studies, Islamic Studies, Postcolonial Studies, 19th-Century Imperialism and Colonialism, Theory of History, and Cultural History. She also holds a degree in Journalism from the School of Communications and Arts at the University of São Paulo (ECA-USP). Author of the book "Direito à vagabundagem: as viagens de Isabelle Eberhardt" (Fósforo, 2022), in which writes about the Swiss traveller who dress as a Muslim man to travel throughout Algeria in the end of 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries. Has published chapters in three books: Deus e o Diabo na Terra dos Cedros (Tabla, 2024), writing about Lebanon before European colonization; "Depois do fim: Ensaios de Literatura e Antropoceno" (Instante, 2022), writing about the desert in the book "Boussole" by Mathias Enard, and co-organized the "Grande Dia para as Escritoras", a movement that captured thounsands of female Brazilian writers across Brazil and the world.
