Mauro Silva Ruiz

Dr. Ruiz holds a PhD degree in Geography (Natural Resource Planning) by Southern Illinois University at Carbondade, USA (1996), a MSc.degree in Management and Policy of Mineral Resources by the State University of Campinas (1989), and a Bachelor degree in Geology by the State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1981). From 2011 to 2019 he worked as a professor in the Professional Master Program in Environmental Management and Sustainability and also was a coordinador of this program from 2015 to mid-2019 at UNINOVE. From 2015 to 2018 he also worked as a professor in the Master Program in Sustainable and Smart Cities in this University. Also from 2015 to mid-2019 he (i) cooperated as an advisor in the Graduate Program (master and doctoral) in Management; (ii) worked as an associate editor of the journal Environmental Management and Sustainability; and (iii) took part in the Smart and Sustainable Cities´ group of UNINOVE at CNPq. In this period, he also coordinated the International Module in Environmental Management and Sustainability of UNINOVE at Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences. He was a former researcher of the Institute for Technological Research of São Paulo State (1982 - 2012), a coordinator of the MBA on Environmental Management and Sustainability Practices (2005 - 2014), and fellow of the Leadership for Environment and Development Program (2000 - 2001). His areas of expertise include Environmental Planning and Management, Technological Forecasting, Technological Parks, Local Productive Systems, Technology Economics, and Mineral Economics. His teaching experience is in Integrated Management of Water Resources, Management of Environmental Conflicts; Environmental Sciences, Geosciences, Environmental Technical Barriers to Trade, Technological Innovation and Sustainability, and Research Methodology.
