Eduardo Gianesella is a percussion professor at the Instituto de Artes da UNESP since 1993, and is currently the director of the PIAP Percussion Group and coordinator of the Percussion Laboratory. He obtained his PhD in Musicology from ECA/USP in 2009, which resulted in the book "Percussão Orquestral Brasileira: problemas editoriais e interpretativos" (Brazilian Orchestral Percussion: Editorial and Interpretative Problems), published in 2012 by Editora UNESP. He completed his Master's degree in Music (Percussion Performance) at the Eastman School of Music - University of Rochester in 1990, as a CNPq scholarship holder. He obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Music - Percussion from the Institute of Arts of UNESP in 1987 and graduated in Percussion from the Conservatory of Tatuí in 1982. In addition to having been a member of several orchestras, he was a percussionist with the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra from 1994 to 2022, where he still plays occasionally as a guest musician, and has participated as a percussion teacher in the main music courses and festivals in Brazil, such as FEMUSC and the Campos do Jordão Winter Festival, among others. He has taught courses and masterclasses in several countries and has performed numerous premieres and recordings of contemporary music, in addition to several international tours with the various groups in which he performs.
