Maria Virginia Urso-Guimaraes

I have a degree in Biological Sciences from FFCLRP/USP and Master's and PhD degrees from the Entomology Graduate Program at FFCLRP/USP. Between 2017 and 2019 I did a postdoctoral fellowship at the Museum of Zoology/USP, where I dedicated myself to further studying the evolution of the Asphondyliini (Diptera, Cecidomyiidae). I am a Full Professor at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) and coordinate the Diptera Systematics Laboratory. I have experience in Entomology, with an emphasis on Taxonomy and Systematics, with efforts focused on describing the biodiversity of the Cecidomyiidae family and characterizing entomogenous galls and their inducers in the Neotropical region. I am accredited in the Entomology Graduate Program at USP/RP and the Ecology and Natural Resources Graduate Program at UFSCar, where I train researchers in the area of Integrative Taxonomy and Systematics.
