Thais Cesar is a Visiting Professor at the Pharmacy School at Sao Paulo State University (UNESP) SP Brazil, where she was Associate Professor for 31 years, teaching Nutrition to undergraduate and graduate students in Pharmacy, Food Science and Nutrition. She holds bachelor's degree in Biology from the Federal University of Sao Carlos, master's degree in Human Genetics, and PhD in Food Science and Nutrition, University of Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo, Brazil. She did postdoctoral work in Molecular Genetics at Boston University, USA (1996-1998), and in Citrus Compounds at Citrus Laboratory, ARS-USDA, FL USA (2006-2008), establishing cooperative research between the USDA and UNESP for over a decade. The scientific focus of Dr. Cesar is to investigate the nutritional and metabolic properties of citrus fruits and citrus flavonoids, in clinical studies and animal models, considering the effect of the bioactive compounds as a protective factor against the development of chronic diseases. From 2015 to 2019, she collaborated as a scientific expert with Brazilian Citrus Exporters Association (Citrus-BR), and Citrosuco S.A., Sao Paulo, Brazil. From 2017 to 2021, she participated as an Expert of the European Fruit Juice Association (AIJN), Brussels, BE, and since 2021, she collaborates as Scientific Consultant for the bioflavonoids company Ingredients by Nature (IBN), Montclair, USA.
