He is currently an assistant professor in the department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (MAE/UCCS) after serving as a visiting scientist at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) and completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the Deep Space Mission Design Laboratory of the Institute of Space and Astronautics Sciences (ISAS) of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). He holds PhD and MSc degrees in Physics (focusing Celestial Mechanics and Astrodynamics) from the São Paulo State University (UNESP), where he obtained a bachelor degree in Mathematics (with honours). During his PhD, he spent periods as visiting scholar at the Colorado Center for Astrodynamics Research (CCAR) of the University of Colorado at Boulder (USA) and in the same laboratory at ISAS/JAXA. He was a postdoctoral researcher at the National Institute for Space Research (INPE) and at the Israel Institute of Technology (Technion), and has also worked as an associate researcher at the Technological Institute of Aeronautics (ITA). He has experience working with the astrodynamics and space mission design teams of space missions such as MMX and DESTINY+ (JAXA) and ITASAT-2 (ITA/INPE/NASA and other partners). He was a visiting scientist at the University of Colorado Boulder and at the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (ISAS/JAXA), as well a National Point of Contact (NPoC) for Brazil at Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) in support of the United Nations programme on space applications (Austria). Areas of expertise: Celestial Mechanics, Astrodynamics, Aerospace Engineering and Space History. Topics of interest are: Two and Three Body Problem, Perturbation Theory, Space Missions, Frozen and Polar Orbits, Artificial and Planetary Satellites, Hamiltonian Systems, Solar and Gravity Gradient Forces. During his career he has received grants and scholarship funds from the following agencies: JSPS (Japan), COSPAR (France), SIMCA (Italy), Technion (Israel), FAPESP, CNPq, CAPES and PROEX/UNESP (Brazil).
