Arlindo Philippi Jr is currently Full Professor of Environmental Policy, Planning and Management at University of São Paulo, where he is Scientific Coordinator of the USP Environmental Health Interdisciplinary Group, and holds a position at CAPES, The Brazilian Foundation on Science and Technology as Coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Graduate Programs Area. He was formerly Head of IBAMA, The Brazilian Environmental Protection Agency; Head of Department at CETESB, the State of São Paulo Environmental Protection Agency; Head of The City of São Paulo SVMA Environmental Planning and Education Department; Head of Brazilian MCT Science and Technology Program on Environmental Sciences. He was also Member of the ICLEI Executive Committee and President of the Institute of Science and Technology on Sustainable Development. Dr. Philippi is a Civil, Sanitary and Environmental Engineer, he holds a Master Degree on Public Health, a PhD on Environmental Health, a Post-Doctorate on Environmental Policy, Planning and Management. He completed his studies and expertise on waste management; industrial environmental pollution control and prevention; business and environment; and urban environmental planning and management, in several courses in USA, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Italy and Japan. He is also author and editor of books (38), book chapters (109) and published scientific papers (46) on environmental policy, planning and management. He can be contacted at and ".
