Carlos Roberto Sorensen Dutra da Fonseca

PhD in Ecology at Oxford University and pos-docs at Macquarie University, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), UC-Davis (USA) and Sorbonne (France). Nowadays, holds a Professorship at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (2009-present), but from 2001 and 2009 had a Professorship at the Universidade Federal do Vale do Rio dos Sinos (UNISINOS). Experience with animal-plant interaction, mutualism, social insects, community ecology, macroecology, fragmentation, exotic species, forest management, extinction, flower evolution and biodiversity conservation. Works with several organisms, as insects, amphibians, mammals, and plants. Member of the editorial board of Biological Conservation, Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment, Neotropical Biology and Conservation, and Brazilian Journal of Nature Conservation, besides being referee of 28 scientific journals, CNPq, CAPES, and FAPESP. Member of the Conservation Committee of the Association for Tropical Biology and Conservation (ATBC), Member of the Fiscal Council of the Brazilian Association for Ecological Sciences (ABECO), and Coordinator of the Ministry of Environment (MMA) initiative to select priority areas for conservation in the Caatinga Biome. Participates in international research networks with Argentina, Uruguay, Belgium, Australia, and Germany. Vice-Coordenator of the Undergraduate Course in Ecology at UFRN (2012) and Head of the Graduate Program in Ecology (2014-2015) of UFRN.
