I hold a degree in Biological Sciences from the State University of Campinas (1995), a master's degree in Ecology from the State University of Campinas (1997), a PhD in Zoology from Louisiana State University - USA (2002) and a Docentship in Evolutionary Biology from the University of Helsinki - Finland (2020). I am currently the leading researcher in the Environmental Genomics group at the Vale Institute of Technology (ITV) and an associate researcher in the Department of Ornithology of the Academy of Natural Sciences at Drexel University (USA); professor of the graduate courses in Biodiversity and Evolution at the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi (PPGBE), Zoology at the Federal University of Pará / Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi and the Bionorte network (multi-campi) and Fellow of the American Ornithologists' Union (AOU). I have worked in the supervision and co-supervision of 60 Master's, Doctoral, and scientific initiation students and post-doctoral researchers. I am coordinator of the Brazilian Biodiversity Genomics (GBB) consortium and coordinator of the Committee for the Assessment of the Risk of Extinction of the taxon Aves in the Amazon, established by ICMBio. I have experience in Zoology and Animal Genetics, working mainly in the following areas: biogeography, evolution, genomics, molecular systematics and taxonomy of Neotropical vertebrates, subjects on which I have produced more than 350 publications and communications in journals, books, newspapers, magazines and events in Brazil and abroad.
