Paulo Antunes Horta Junior

Bachelor of Biological Sciences from the University of São Paulo (1996), PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of São Paulo (2000), Post-Doctorate in Marine Ecology from the University of Plymouth, United Kingdom (2013) and from the Center for Marine Sciences at the University of Algarve, Portugal (2018). He was a professor at the Federal University of Paraíba (2004), visiting professor at the University of Salento, Italy (2022), and is currently a full professor at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Florianópolis, Brazil. He works in the training of professionals in the areas of Oceanography and Biodiversity both at the Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. He represented Brazil at the United Nations as an Expert until 2019. He is currently dedicated to studies related to socio-environmental diagnosis and the search for solutions to face the crises imposed by climate change and pollution. Contributing to the construction of national and international articulations and arrangements, it has carried out scientific dissemination and encouraged the creation of public policies (municipal, state, federal and international) to guarantee socio-environmental and climate justice with attention to the rights of nature and transgenerational rights..
