Ana Maria Percebom Sette da Silva

Ana Percebom has been an Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemistry of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) since 2015. She was awarded the title Jovem Cientista do Nosso Estado (Young Scientist of Our State, 2020) and Jovem Pesquisadora Fluminense (Young Researcher of Rio de Janeiro, 2022) by FAPERJ. She received the Hans Viertler Award for Young Scientists from the Brazilian Chemical Society (SBQ, 2021), of which she is a full member. She coordinates the Macromolecules Nanoparticles Laboratory (MeN Lab), which conducts research in the field of Colloid Physical Chemistry, aiming to deepen the understanding of fundamental scientific phenomena and apply this knowledge across diverse areas such as cosmetics, energy, diagnostics, and food.Prof. Percebom holds a degree in Chemistry and a Ph.D. in Sciences, with emphasis on Colloid Physical Chemistry, from UNICAMP. She carried out part of her doctoral studies at Lund University (Sweden) and a postdoctoral fellowship at the BioNanoPlasmonics Lab in Spain (20142015). She has extensive experience with polymers and surfactants, liquid crystals, nanoparticles, micellar systems, and emulsions. She specializes in light scattering techniques (SLS and DLS) and X-ray scattering (SAXS), and has additional expertise in other characterization methods for colloids and nanomaterials (tensiometry, rheology, calorimetry, among others).She teaches continuing education courses on cosmetics and offers in-company training for industries in various sectors related to colloids (cosmetics, agrochemicals, oil and gas, and food).
