Evaristo Eduardo de Miranda

He has a master's and doctorate in ecology from the University of Montpellier (France). With hundreds of works published in Brazil and abroad, he is author and co-author of more than 50 books. Researcher at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation since 1980, he participated and coordinated more than 40 research projects and implemented and directed three national research centers. Currently, he is the chief general of Embrapa Territorial. Member of several scientific societies, he directed the first agroecological and socioeconomic studies programs on small rural properties in the Northeast and in the Amazon and from their monitoring by satellites. For 10 years he was a professor at the University of S. Paulo and for 4 years coordinator at the Secretariat for Monitoring and Institutional Affairs of the Presidency of the Republic. He is director of the "Instituto Ciência e Fé". UNO consultant at the World Conference on the Environment (WCE), the Rio-92, advises FAO, UNESCO, World Bank, IICA, FAPESP and other national and international entities. Publishes in magazines and newspapers such as National Geographic, ECO 21, Agroanalysis, Agro DBO, Princípios, Jornal Universidade, O Estado de São Paulo etc. and serves on the editorial board of several publications. Among awards and decorations he received: the Diploma of Internet Builder of the National Network of Education and Research of CNPq, the Rio Branco Order from Itamaraty, the Abril Journalism Award (Science Category), the Newton Freire-Maia Award and the ABCZ and ABC Merit award.
