Associate Professor at the Institute of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo, Brazil [www.iau.usp.br], since 1990, where he coordinates the Nomads.usp Center for Interactive Housing Studies [www.nomads.usp]. Professor of the Postgraduate Program in Architecture and Urbanism at IAU-USP [Capes Concept 6], at the Master's and Doctorate levels and Postdoctoral supervisor. Graduated in Architecture from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Grenoble, France (1984) and in Architecture and Urbanism from the Catholic University of Campinas, Brazil (1980). Master in Architecture from the Ecole D'Architecture de Grenoble ("Architecture de Terre: Programme de Formation pour Formateurs", 1990, CRATerre). PhD in Architecture and Urbanism from the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo ("Paris, São Paulo, Tokyo: New ways of life, new living spaces", 1998). Post-Doctorate at Ecole Nationale Supérieure D'Architecture de Paris-Malaquais, France ("Contemporary dwelling and new media", 2002). Associate Professor at the São Carlos School of Engineering at the University of São Paulo ("SQCB: apartments and ways of living in the city of São Paulo", 2004). He was a Visiting Researcher at Osaka Sangyo University, Japan (1993-1994), Visiting Professor at the Department of Cultural Sciences at Leuphana Universität and Hafencity Universität, Hamburg, both in Germany (2009-2010), at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure D'Architecture de Paris Belleville, France (2013), at the Postgraduate Program in Architecture and Urbanism at the Federal University of Pará, Brazil, (2014), at the Postgraduate Program in Science, Technology, and Society at the Federal University of São Carlos, Brazil (2016) and Guest Professor at Tsinghua University School of Architecture, China (2019 and 2024). Editor-in-chief of the scientific journal V!RUS since 2006 (issn 2175-974x, www.revistas.usp.br/virus, Qualis A3 2017-2020), a biannual online thematic publication in Portuguese-English or Spanish-English by Nomads.usp. Reviewer of several national and international journals, ad hoc advisor to funding agencies in Brazil and abroad and member of scientific committees of national and international scientific meetings. Coordinator of research projects in public policies in the areas of Architecture and Urbanism, Culture, and Urban Studies, exploring the use of digital media in: 1. cultural actions for reading and occupation of urban public spaces (FAPESP 2004-2008, FAPESP 2011-2013, DAAD Germany, 2013-2017 and 2022), 2. strategies for the development of the Advanced Internet - TIDIA-AE (FAPESP 2007-2009), 3. study and characterization of the relationships between social behaviors and Brazilian living spaces (CNPq 2003-2005; PRPI-USP 2001-2008), 4. studies on metropolitan housing modalities; 5. design processes with BIM, parametric design, and digital manufacturing (FAPESP 2011-2013, CNPq 2013-2015, PRPI-USP and PRCEx 2024-25), and 6. research-intervention projects with national and international partners external to the university (FAPESP, CAPES, DAAD-Germany, PRPI-USP 2024-25). His research topics are related to architecture, parameterization, digital fabrication, digital culture, and technopolitics; BIM, Artificial Intelligence, and design processes; teaching architectural and urban design; online platforms in participatory decision-making processes; urban public policies; the use of documentary film as a research medium; complex thinking, decolonial thinking and Architecture; contemporary urban ways of living and their history. Chair of international academic cooperation agreements with Tsinghua School of Architecture (China, ongoing), Hafencity Universität (Germany, ongoing), Ecole d'Architecture de Paris-Belleville (France), Leuphana Universität (Germany, ongoing), and Kunstuniversität Linz (Austria).
