Completed his undergraduate studies in biology at the Simón Bolívar University (Caracas, Venezuela), MSc. and PhD at the Martin Luther University (Halle, Germany), a first postdoctoral appointment at the University of Western Australia (Perth, Australia), and a second postdoctoral appointment at the University of São Paulo (São Paulo Brazil). Currently working as a Researcher at the Vale Institute of Technology (Belém, Brazil). His lines of research include landscape genetics/genomics and quantitative ecology. Published over fifty scientific papers, a range of book chapters and outreach articles, and prepared multi-media open-access education modules. Current Affiliate Faculty in the Department of Ecology from the University of São Paulo, Affiliate Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, and Academic Editor for the journals PeerJ and Perspectives in Ecology and Conservation.
