I am a professor in the undergraduate courses 1) Nature Sciences and 2) Biotechnology and in the Postgraduate Program in Sustainability at the School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities, University of São Paulo. I have a master's degree (1993) and a double doctorate (1997) in Biological Oceanography (Oceanographic Institute, USP) and Micropaleontology and Oceanic Palaeoenvironments (Université d Angers, France). I did post-doctoral studies in 1) Ecology (Institute of Biosciences, USP, 1999), 2) Biogeochemistry of impacted marine environments (Cornell University, USA, 2005), 3) Micropaleontology and Environmental Geology (Institute of Geosciences, USP, 2002-2006, Young Researcher FAPESP). I participated in the Fullbright Program (2014-2016), USA, where I was a visiting researcher at the 1) Department of Atmospheric Sciences, University of Arizona, 2) Department of Geology and Geophysics, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, and 3) National Center for Atmospheric Research. I was also a visiting researcher at the Institut de recherche pour le développement (IRD), Paris (2011), and at the IODP Kochi Core Center, Japan (2015). I have participated in several projects and scientific expeditions in Antarctica, the Indian Ocean (Expedition 354 Bengal Fan, CAPES-IODP), Atlantic and Pacific (Central America, El Salvador), working in the areas of assessment of impacted marine regions, paleoenvironmental reconstitution, climate change, and environmental diplomacy. I was the chief researcher on board the oceanography team (PROANTAR Project 557036-2009-7), on the vessels Ary Rongel and Almirante Maximiano, during Antarctic Operations 29, 30,31, 32, 33.
