I received a bachelors degree in Biological Science (1995), and Master (1998) and Ph.D. (2002) in Ecology from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas. I was an Associate Professor in the Department of Ecology, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) in the period April/2004 and May/2009. In the period June 2009 and June 2019 I worked at Universidade Federal de Goias (UFG). I returned to UFRGS in June 2019. I teach courses and regularly advises students in the Graduate Program in Ecology of UFRGS and the Graduate Program in Ecology and Evolution of UFG. I was the chair of the Graduate Program in Ecology UFRGS in the period 2007 and 2008 and of the Graduate Program in Ecology and Evolution of UFG in the period 2010 and 2012. I also taught courses at the following Graduate Programs: Entomology at INPA, Ecology at UFMG, Biology at Unisinos, Ecology at UFMT, Ecology at UEM, Ecology at UFRN, Animal Biodiversity at UFSM and Ecology at UFU. I also participated in field courses in Ecology promoted by PDBFF-INPA, USP, UFMT, UFMS and Unisinos. I was the chairman of the Organizing Committee of XII Cong. Bras. Limnology (23-27 August 2009, Gramado-RS). I served as the Adjunct Coordinator for Professional Graduate Programs in Capes during May 2018 and December 2022. I have experience in Ecology, with emphasis on diversity, mainly in the following themes: diversity, ecology of streams, aquatic insects, and community ecology.
