Graduated in Electrical Engineering at Federal University of 'Rio Grande do Sul' - UFRGS (1991), Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering at State University of Campinas - Unicamp (1994) and Doctor in Microelectronics at Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble - INPG, France (1998). Post-doctorate at University of British Columbia, Canada (2010-2011). He worked as chief scientist in the digital integrated circuit design at Nangate A/S, Denmark, from August 2005 to July 2006. President of the Brazilian Microelectronics Society in the period 2000-2002, and member of the board and council of this scientific society in other periods. Coordinator of Computer Engineering course at UFRGS in the periods 2003-2004 and 2007-2008. Professor in the Institute of Informatics at UFRGS since Jan./2000. Coordinator of the Nangate-UFRGS Research Lab, which is a research laboratory created into the RD agreement between UFRGS and Nangate A/S, from Aug./2006 to July/2009. Author of several scientific publications in international journals and conferences. The areas of interest are CMOS digital design, MEMS and CAD tools related to these topics.
